Spanish commands: affirmative and negative

Choosing the form

Spanish command forms change with the person being addressed and whether the command is affirmative or negative. Usted and ustedes commands use present-subjunctive forms.

• Habla más despacio.Speak more slowly.
• No hables tan rápido.Do not speak so quickly.

Pronoun placement

Attach object and reflexive pronouns to affirmative commands, adding a written accent when required. Place them before negative commands: Dímelo, but No me lo digas.
